Voicemail
After-hours and missed rings record a caller message. Listen, mark heard, and delete at Admin → Voicemail.
Tenant admins manage this at Admin → Voicemail (/admin/voicemail).
What callers hear
When Octone sends a caller to voicemail:
- They hear the closed prompt (after hours) or the mailbox greeting (menu key / missed ring).
- A short beep plays.
- They record a message, then hang up (or the recording stops after a pause / max length).
- The message shows under Messages with caller, time, and duration.
You never need a carrier portal for this. Recordings use the same call-recording path as the rest of Octone.
Mailboxes
Octone keeps a Company default box (created automatically). You can add more:
- Company default — used after hours and when no more specific box exists
- Division — that team’s overflow
- Extension — that person’s missed-call box
Resolution order: the box you pick on the menu key → the extension’s box → the division’s box → company default.
After hours
On Inbound IVR, enable after hours and leave Then record a voicemail on. Pick a mailbox or keep company default.
From the menu
Map a key (* is common) to Leave voicemail. Optionally upload a clip for that key instead of the mailbox text-to-speech greeting.
Missed transfer
If a transfer rings and nobody answers, Octone records a message when a mailbox exists for that extension or the company.
Listen
On Voicemail: play, Mark heard, or Delete. New messages are highlighted.
